The Bariloche Atomic Center (CAB) is one of the pioneer sites of the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), which dates back to the1950’s. Since then, it has become the hub of nuclear engineering in Argentina and Latin America. Its main activities include scientific research, technological development and the training of highly specialized teams mainly in the areas of physics, materials science and nuclear engineering.

The Bariloche Atomic Center (CAB) is one of the three atomic centers that belongs to the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA). It carries out a wide range of basic and applied research activities.

It also houses the Balseiro Institute (IB), which came to be as the result of an agreement between the National University of Cuyo and the CNEA.
It is mandatory to have a valid DNI – Passport, the one you registered with, to enter the CAB, CNEA.

Bariloche is a hub for accessing southern Patagonia (Perito Moreno and Ushuaia).

Public transportation

To go from downtown Bariloche to the CAB you can take bus lines 10, 20, 21, 22 and 51 of Mi Bus company in direction to Llao-Llao. The bus has an approximate frequency of 20 minutes. The schedules and routes can be found in the company’s web page. The ticket is paid with the SUBE bus card. You must get off at the Bariloche Atomic Center (CAB), Av. Bustillo, km. 9.5.
